The Origin of Xmas - What is "X"?

This was one thing that I feel every Christian needs to see. With so much dissension over "Xmas" and "keep Christ in Christmas" - it is important to note that "X" really is shorthand for Christ and has a long history as such. I have no desire to argue over holidays and there is much of that among conservative right Christians.

Windows 8.1 DVD Problems

Windows 8.1 is lacking a working DVD player What? This is simply ridiculous. This was new to me - but I did find several references to this on the web. Why would Microsoft do this? I assume the hardware will install software from the disk right out of the box. It simply will not play a DVD. I found a piece of software you can add to your machine that solves this - but don't look for Windows Media Player 12 to work to play a DVD natively. VLZ will work flawlessly and undo your disappointment. Nice going Microsoft. FAIL!

Antikythera Mechanism Research Project

http://www.livescience.com/1166-scientists-unravel-mystery-ancient-greek-machine.html This item has come up over and over again - Erich Von Daniken and others of similar persuasion. Anytime someone wants to make a case for alien intervention in human affairs, the Antikythera Mechanism is pushed into the spotlight as "proof". The only thing this proves to me is that ancient man had access to technologies from their own time and produced by their own minds and intellect. My thought is that we are not evolving into a super species, but at the very least, we have de-evolved and forgotten so much of what was once accessible. At some point historians will need to concede that we have gone backward in many ways in technologies.
